Research
There is an extensive library and archives at Cooneana Heritage Centre, including technical books, maps, ledgers, newspapers and photographs.
Several of our members and volunteers undertake research to enable these documents to be classified correctly. Research is also conducted on various artefacts that have been donated without much provenance. It is a significant task and takes many hours sometimes to locate the information required.
People regularly send in requests for information on a variety of subjects which our volunteers strive to provide. When someone enquires about a particular person, it may be possible for the Historical Society to hold records, but is more likely that the Ipswich Genealogical Society will be able to assist. Such enquiries are forwarded. The Genealogical Society is located in Brigg House at Cooneana Heritage Centre, so it is only a short step away if you can't get your question answered by our researchers.
Our library is available to use while you are on site, but items cannot be lent out.
